About the Poet
RUTH SABATH ROSENHTAL resides in New York City. In January 2000, she began seriously studying and writing (mainly poetry) after having enjoyed a long career as vice president of a national needlework manufacturing company, Paragon Needlecraft, a division of National Paragon Corporation. As VP, Ruth served as both director of the ‘How-To Needlework Book Department’ and the ‘Consumer Relations Department’ until the company ceased operations in the late 1980’s. Thereafter, Ruth joined her husband in their newly formed event-planning company By Invitation Only, Ltd. (In December 2025, the company’s ownership was turned over to a family member.)
Ruth studied the craft of poetry via local workshops and privately with several well-regarded poets. Three of her favorites, Sarah Hannah, Kate Light, and Rachel Wetzsteon, though long deceased still inspire her and the poetry community at large.
In 2006, the prestigious Connecticut Review was the very first to publish Ruth — her poem “Coming in Second.” To date, her poems have been published in an impressive number of poetry anthologies, literary magazines, and journals in the U.S. and other English speaking countries. In addition, Ruth has authored seven books of poetry: in 2010, Finishing Line Press published her chapbook Facing Home, and in 2011, Paragon Poetry Press, Inc. published her first full-length collection Facing Home and beyond and, thereafter, four more books:
- Food: Nature vs Nurture
- Gone, but not Easily Forgotten
- little, but by no means Small
- Safe n’ Sound (or not!)
The seventh book Of My Labor came to be in 2026 when Ruth incorporated the poems from the six above mentioned books into one collection — her only book of poetry currently available.
Also in 2026, Ruth authored two non-fiction books and edited (actually re-edited) a memoir written by a child Holocaust survivor. The three books pertain to World War II and the Holocaust and are also published by Paragon Poetry Press, Inc. Ruth’s interest in the Holocaust is quite personal because the memoir is that of a close family member who, having shared his survivor experiences with her over the years, finally felt ready to have his story published (initially Ruth edited the memoir in 2023 for its first publication, which was followed by several re-edits for the printings that followed): Manfred — His Story of Survival … from Concentration Camp to Freedom in America (in his very own words).
After Ruth went through the process of preparing the memoir for its most recent publication, she felt compelled to independently delve into the Holocaust from a rather unique perspective inspired by Manfred’s survivor-related conversations with her which she expanded upon, both literally and figuratively, in her book On A Ship to America, July 1944 and, thereafter, Art, Jewelry, Gold Stolen by the Nazis During World War II and Recovered by the U.S. and Its Allies
